Apple Punch Recipe (dated 1790)

Place in a heavy cooking dish:-

1½ quarts hard cider

1½ quarts apple juice

2 teaspoons allspice

2 teaspoons nutmeg

4 cinnamon sticks

1 cup rum

2 cups molasses sugar
(according to taste)

Method

Heat and simmer for at least twenty minutes, until flavour is released.
